The Team Parish of Louth is delighted to announce that the Rev’d Karen Gooding will be joining us as part-time Interim Team Vicar. I am delighted that Karen is going to come and exercise her ministry here in the parish and she already knows the area well, having lived locally before moving to minister in both London and Canterbury dioceses.
She will be licensed at 7pm on Monday the 7th of November by the Bishop of Grantham, in St. James’ Church in Louth and I hope that many people from our local community will come along to welcome her.
Karen is very much looking forward to returning to the Diocese of Lincoln, having been ordained Deacon in Grimsby Minster following her training at the Lincoln School of Ministry (2011). Karen served her title at St Michael’s Enfield and was Assistant Priest of St Andrew’s Southgate in the Diocese of London. She was appointed Associate Priest of the Wantsum Benefice in 2016 and has been Priest in Charge of St Saviour’s Westgate on Sea in the Diocese of Canterbury since March, 2019.
Karen’s background prior to ordination is in teaching. She trained at The Royal Academy of Music and Roehampton Institute of Education. More recently, and while a Curate, Karen has studied Contemporary Ministry and Apologetics at King’s College, London.
Karen’s older children and grandchildren live in London. Her youngest son, Aidan, will move with Karen to Louth and become a member of the Linkage Community. Three of the family, including Malcolm who studied at King Edward 6th School, Louth have been choristers at Southwark Cathedral which gives Karen a special interest in the life of St James’ choirs.
Karen’s passion is ‘the Family of the Church’.
